Appeal[edit]
Have a good time, I'd like you to urgently stay all files nominated for deletion in Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Raisa Vasilyeva - Wikimedia Commons. The nominator everywhere writes the word "probably" but it is certainly my aunt depicted in all three pictures and two of them are uploaded by me, from two different accounts (see below why).
A nominator alleges that there are "fake licenses" of these photos, but three of four photos are licensed properly, and only one may be disputed. One of the uploaders of the photos is allegedly blocked on ru.wiki, but that has no relation whatsoever to the question of deleting the photos on Wikimedia Commons. All photos depict a Soviet singer who is the member of my family (my aunt).
File:R. Vasilyeva (my own photo).jpg - this file is uploaded by me from my second account, which I created because I had forgotten the password of this account for the few days. The photo is taken by me during the festival and clearly contains the tag "my own photo" and "has no copyright".
File:Vasilyeva.jpg - this photo is taken from my family album and originally taken by unknown photographer before 1973 in Soviet Belarus, so falls under the public domain definition in Belarus (see: Template:PD-Belarus).
File:Sovjet-zangeres Raisa Vasilyeva.jpg - this photo is not uploaded by me but its existence in Commons is proper because 1) it is preserved in Dutch National Archives under the CC license and 2) it is also taken by unknown photographer before 1973 in Soviet Belarus.
The nominator also mentions some unrelated deletion request associated with persons I don't know and who have no relation to my aunt, so this has no sense as well. Based on this, I ask you to urgently stay these pictures as lawfully uploaded to Wikimedia with proper copyright. I recently updated all copyright tags for these images. File:Раиса Никоновна Васильева.jpg is most likely the only one that is, just like the nominator said, "fakely licensed": it is credited to year 1986 even although it's not been taken in 1986 at all. It is also the duplicate of properly licensed file File:Sovjet-zangeres Raisa Vasilyeva.jpg which should stay as a Dutch CC file + pre-1973 Belorussian SSR image. - I will reply in the DR. --MGA73 (talk) 11:48, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you Nevtreh (talk) 11:49, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- @MGA73 I have added info about the sources in the images. File:Раиса Никоновна Васильева.jpg can be deleted as a duplicate, as I've mentioned before. So I would be sincerely thankful if you closed the deletion request related to my aunt's pictures. I get very nervous everytime there is an issue related to my family members. - Hello again Nevtreh. You wrote that the source of File:Sovjet-zangeres Raisa Vasilyeva.jpg is Dutch National Archives. Is it online somewhere? --MGA73 (talk) 11:52, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- I do not know if it's available online but my dad personally sent them this photo twenty years ago so it must be available, either online or offline. It is also from my family album, as I've emphasized. Nevtreh (talk) 12:39, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Nevtreh. If your father send the photo to the Dutch National Archives then the Dutch National Archives are not the source. Your father is. Question is where he got it. --MGA73 (talk) 13:57, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- I changed the source from the Dutch National Archives to family archive of Raisa Vasilyeva. We don't know who the photographer is, but due to the fact that the copyright of the image has legally expired under the existing law of Belarus, I think it's irrelevant to seek the photographer. Nevtreh (talk) 19:23, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
- Nevtreh The license is only "Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Netherlands" if the copyright belongs to Dutch National Archive and they released the photo as CC. If the copyright expired because of {{PD-Belarus}} then that is the correct license. But for that license to be valid the author have to be anonymous. The best place to discuss is at the DR. So lets jump there. --MGA73 (talk) 09:24, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- @MGA73 Hello. I have done everything regarding this issue, I changed the license once more and now all sources and licenses are marked properly. Can you now close the deletion request? Nevtreh (talk) 19:13, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- @MGA73 Hello once again. I'm very thankful for your "keep" vote, I spent a significant amount of time and nerves to fix the copyright issues and show that the images have right to remain on Commons. I'm very happy there are people like you in our society. Is there any possibility that you as an admin will close the deletion request (today or in upcoming days)? And what about File:Infinity Train series logo.png? I think that unlike other uploads by this user, this image may be well below US ToO and {{PD-textlogo}} could be applicable. Also, do you think that giving the user only 7 seconds for explanation and/or fixing the licensing information is OK? Ankry (talk) 12:17, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Ankry!
- Per the talk page the user uploaded several copyvios. Including File:Plakat serialu animowanego.jpg tagged as a speedy by you. So I decided to delete all the uploads but left a "no permission" so user can see the files were deleted and also know what to do if user have/get a valid permission. I think a "No permission" is more "friendly" than a copyvio template.
- I think File:Infinity Train series logo.png could be {{PD-textlogo}} so I would not speedy delete that. --MGA73 (talk) 14:18, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- OK, so I have requested its undeletion. Please, comment there if you disagree. I agree that all other uploads by this user were copyvios, but this one, IMO, was not (just licensing was incorrect). Ankry (talk) 18:52, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

@MGA73: Your bot has committed a blatant error here. Please take a look ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:24, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi The Aafī! Thank you for letting me know.
- I checked the edits and it seems that this is the only case. The reason for the error is that I did not expect anyone to edit the files while I was working on them.
- First I made a list of files to edit. Then the bot work on pages where there is some text (search pattern ".+"). Once that is finished the second run works on files that are not tagged in the first run (asuming that it is files with no text so using search pattern ".?" and skipping files with "no license"). I did not take take into account that someone could fix the file between first and second bot run. --MGA73 (talk) 08:52, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
